SHAH ALAM: The Selangor chapter of the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry has issued 1,859 compounds amounting to RM4.22 million last year following inspections and enforcement on business premises statewide.
Its director, Muhamad Hanif Asa’ari, said the figure includes compounds issued directly, as well as the potential value of compounds in cases involving investigation papers opened under various acts enforced by the ministry.
“Throughout 2025, Selangor KPDN inspected 110,067 business premises across the state involving various sectors, including retail, wholesale, and services.
“These checks resulted in 1,381 compounds issued directly worth RM341,900, while another 478 cases led to the opening of investigation papers with a potential compound value reaching RM3.88 million,” he told a press conference at Taman Sri Muda, near here, today.
He said continuous enforcement is carried out to ensure compliance with trade laws, particularly regarding price and supply controls and consumer protection.
Muhamad Hanif added that the laws enforced include the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011, the Control of Supplies Act 1961, the Weights and Measures Act 1972, and the Consumer Protection Act 1999.
“During that period, 1,141 cases were recorded under the Price Control Act, 146 cases under the Control of Supplies Act, 293 cases under the Weights and Measures Act, and 62 cases under the Consumer Protection Act.
“In addition to compounds, seizure actions were also taken, with the total value of seized items amounting to RM18 million,” he said.
He also disclosed that since the beginning of January this year, the agency has conducted 12,199 inspections, resulting in 210 compounds worth RM61,900 and 41 investigation papers opened with a potential value of RM208,000.
Earlier, Muhamad Hanif led an enforcement team of 15 Selangor ministry officers, in collaboration with six officers from the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM), to conduct a special inspection operation in the Taman Sri Muda area following public complaints.
