KUALA LUMPUR:

More than RM20 billion has been allocated for 103 flood mitigation projects across seven states under the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP).

Prime Minister Ibrahim said these projects would target flood-prone rivers and areas, including Sungai Langat and Sungai Buloh (), Sungai Golok (), Sungai Gemencheh (Negeri Sembilan), Sungai Baru (Melaka), the Johor and Muar river basins in Johor, Sungai Pahang, and Kuching (Sarawak).

“The early warning system will be improved with the use of AI-based technology to ensure that the public is better prepared and protected during disasters,” he said when tabling the 13MP in the Dewan Rakyat today.
