PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has approved an immediate allocation of RM10mil through the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) to help flood victims in Sabah.
According to him, the sum will be channelled directly to those affected for urgent repairs to basic infrastructure.
This, he said, is in addition to the RM11mil already disbursed through the state government.
“I am deeply moved by the impact of the floods currently affecting Sabah.
“I have instructed the entire Madani government machinery to be mobilised immediately to assist those impacted, so that aid can reach without disruption,” Anwar said in a statement on Facebook on Monday (Sept 15).
He emphasised that priority must be given to the safety, welfare and survival of flood victims.
“The Madani government will ensure that every affected family receives assistance without delay,” he stressed.
Anwar also called on Malaysians to stand together in solidarity and compassion during this crisis.
“I urge all parties to unite and lend their strength, placing the spirit of ihsan (compassion) above all else in helping the people.
“Show our shared sense of togetherness, care and responsibility in facing this dire test,” he said.
