PETALING JAYA:

The federal government has allocated RM1.97 billion for the implementation of phase two pension adjustments under the public service remuneration system (SSPA), effective Jan 1, 2026.

Public services department director-general Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz said this demonstrates the government’s commitment to recognising retirees’ contributions and providing financial relief to nearly one million pension recipients nationwide.

He said the initiative forms part of the government’s ongoing efforts to safeguard the welfare of pensioners, who will receive the same adjustments as those made to civil servants’ salaries, based on their final pension amount.

“This clearly demonstrates the government’s commitment to civil servants, including pensioners, and recognises their dedicated contributions throughout their service,” Bernama reported him as saying in Lumut, Perak, today.

In August 2024, Prime Minister Ibrahim announced that officers from the implementing, management and professional groups who opt for the SSPA scheme would receive a phased salary adjustment of 15%, with 8% for phase one in December 2024 and 7% for phase two in January 2026.
