KUCHING, Sept 24 (Bernama) — Sarawak must develop strong and resilient economic ecosystems as the foundation to achieve its goal of creating 500,000 skilled jobs and increasing the state’s median household income to RM15,049 by 2030.
Sarawak Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn said the targets are outlined under the state’s Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.
“We want to ensure that every Sarawakian has access to meaningful employment across diverse industries. To achieve this, we are prioritising innovation, inclusivity and sustainability.
“This includes building a robust ecosystem for renewable energy, developing green-powered industries, strengthening the semiconductor value chain and preparing our people for the digital economy,” he said in his speech at the Industry Connect @ Sarawak 2025 event here today.
Sagah said in recent years, the world has experienced a rapid technological shift driven by artificial intelligence and digitalisation.
“Sarawak cannot afford to be left behind. Industry players must adapt swiftly, and our local talents must be equipped with the right skills, digital tools and mindsets to thrive in this changing landscape.
“By doing so, we empower our people not only to seize new opportunities and drive innovation, but also to contribute meaningfully to the growth of Sarawak and Malaysia as a whole,” he added.
