CYBERJAYA, Sept 20 (Bernama) — The RekaRangers Student Innovation competition is a new platform to encourage innovation among youth and to support Malaysia’s aspirations of becoming a competitive country in digital economy.
The inaugural programme by Cyberview Sdn Bhd, in conjunction with Cyberjaya RekaFest 2025, attracted more than 180 entries from primary and secondary schools, Cyberview Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Kamarul Ariffin Abdul Samad said.
“That’s why we created this RekaRangers event so that we can spread this innovative spirit among the younger generation throughout Malaysia, not just in Cyberjaya but throughout the country,” he said, adding that it was not a mere competition but a platform to instil long term interest in innovation, technology and entrepreneurship.
The programme also serves as an early entry for youth to explore new forms of technology, including artificial intelligence (AI), the semiconductor industry, green technology and sustainability.
“The outstanding ideas presented by our students reflect both ingenuity and determination to address real-world challenges.
“This is exactly the kind of forward-thinking mindset that will drive Malaysia’s innovation agenda, and Cyberjaya is proud to provide the platform for it,” he said.
SMK Tengku Intan Zaharah from Dungun, Terengganu was champion of the secondary school category with their Rebit (Reinforced Bitumen) project, while Sekolah Tinta from Shah Alam won the primary school category with their innovative Eco Wudhu, a recycling system for ablution water and rainwater.
Deputy Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Aiman Athirah Sabu presided over the close and prize giving ceremony, and also officiated the AKSADRON training centre, the first structured drone training facility set up in Malaysia in 2023.
AKSADRON has trained over 500 drone operators, establishing Cyberjaya as a technology and high performance drone sports hub.
