KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 25 — The MRT line is experiencing disruption due to a signalling system issue since this morning, just a day before the 47th Asean Summit officially begins.

The first alert of the MRT line service disruption was posted on Rapid KL’s Facebook page at 6.21am today.

In multiple announcements and updates on its official Facebook page since this morning, Rapid KL’s rail operator Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd said that trains are currently being manually operated between Kwasa Damansara and Sentral stations, and may experience longer stops at each station.

“Free shuttle bus services are provided for passengers’ convenience.

“Commuters are also advised to consider alternative travel options,” one of the announcements said.

At the time of writing, the MRT Putrajaya service has not been restored fully yet.

Earlier in an announcement posted at 7.09am on Rapid KL’s Facebook page, Rapid Rail said its engineering team was on scene to carry out restoration works and to ensure that operations on the MRT Putrajaya line can be fully restored as soon as possible.

Apart from the free shuttle bus service, Rapid KL also listed the alternative transport options that passengers can use if they had wanted to reach these MRT stations on the MRT Putrajaya line:

  • MRT Titiwangsa – Passengers may use the LRT Ampang/Sri Petaling Line and the Monorail.
  • MRT Ampang Park – Passengers may use the LRT Kelana Jaya Line.
  • MRT TRX – Passengers may use the MRT Kajang Line.
  • MRT Chan Sow Lin – Passengers may use the LRT Ampang/Sri Petaling Line.
  • MRT Sungai Besi – Passengers may use the LRT Ampang/Sri Petaling Line.

If you are travelling to KLIA, Rapid KL recommended these alternative methods of getting to the airport:

  • If you are on the LRT Ampang/Sri Petaling Line, head to Bandar Tasik Selatan Station on this line and continue your journey to the airport using the ERL rail link (TBS-KLIA).
  • If you are in the city centre, you can travel directly from KL Sentral to KLIA using the ERL.
