Ramanan lands first full ministerial role as Human Resources Minister


Datuk Seri R. Ramanan is appointed Minister of Human Resources in the latest cabinet reshuffle, marking his first full ministerial post.

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri R. Ramanan has been appointed Minister of Human Resources in the latest cabinet reshuffle announced today.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ibrahim announced the appointment in as part of efforts to ensure a more effective and cohesive team.

The 44-year-old Sungai Buloh MP previously served as Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development for two years.

He gained national attention after a surprise victory in the 15th General Election, defeating former health minister Khairy Jamaluddin with a 2,693-vote majority.

Ramanan is the grandson of Tan Sri Devaki Krishnan, the first woman to hold public office in pre-independence Malaya.

He holds a degree in engineering technology from Queensland University of Technology in Australia.

Ramanan began his political involvement with in the mid-2000s, holding several senior positions including treasurer-general.

He resigned from in 2014 and joined following the ‘Sheraton Move’ in 2020, where he currently serves as a vice president.

In 2023, he chaired the Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit (MITRA) Special Committee.

Ramanan has also served as special officer to former Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Mansor.

This marks the second cabinet reshuffle under ‘s administration, following the first on Dec 12, 2024.
