Recently, the National Scam Response Centre’s (NSRC) identity has allegedly been misused by fraudsters online.
Is it true that unscrupulous individuals have been pretending to be from the NSRC to obtain personal information and money?

The NSRC has recently become the subject of impersonation by fraudsters seeking to exploit its reputation.
Syndicates have been using the NSRC name and logo to pose as official authorities, aiming to deceive individuals, steal personal information and obtain money unlawfully.
In a post issued on Facebook on Wednesday (Sept 3), the Commercial Crime Investigation Department of the police identified two Facebook pages pretending to represent the NSRC.
The post then confirmed both these Facebook accounts were fake, and emphasised that the NSRC did not operate any social media accounts, including Facebook.
“The NSRC is a call centre that only receives calls from the public and does not make outgoing calls or contact anyone via messaging apps such as WhatsApp.
“Any call or message claiming to be from the NSRC is a scam,” read the statement.
