Queen graces Grand Khatam Al-Quran, iftar event at Istana Negara


KUALA LUMPUR: Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia, graced the Grand Khatam Al-Quran and iftar event at Istana Negara yesterday.

According to the official Facebook page of Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, Her Majesty was accompanied by the Comptroller of the Royal Household at Istana Negara, Tan Sri Dr Azmi Rohani, and the Istana Negara Grand Chamberlain, Datuk Azuan Effendy Zairakithnaini.

Held at the palace’s main surau, the event saw the Queen joining guests for the khatam Al-Quran ceremony, marking the completion of Quran recitation.

She also presented contributions to 182 Quran recitation participants from several institutions, including the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP) Religious Secondary School, Religious Secondary School, Pondok Moden Al-Abaqirah, and Maahad Tahfiz Darul Furqan.

Also present were Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) director-general Datuk Dr Sirajuddin Suhaimee, MAIWP chairman Datuk Syed Kamarulzaman Syed Kabeer, and Federal Territory Islamic Religious Department (Jawi) director Hanifuddin Roslan.

Earlier, the Queen performed the Maghrib prayers in congregation, led by the Istana Negara main surau’s religious officer, Datuk Munir Md Salleh.
