KAJANG: The mother of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Reserve Officer Training Unit (Palapes) cadet Syamsul Haris Shamsudin is thankful for all the support from the public.
After the exhumation of her son’s remains on Friday (Aug 29), Ummu Haiman Bee Daulatgun said the outpouring of encouragement and sympathy helped motivate her to continue the struggle to get justice for her son.

“The support, be it in the form of motivational words, energy and prayers, has been invaluable.
“Alhamdulillah, the first process (exhumation) is done and I am satisfied with it. Next step is the second post-mortem,” she told reporters outside Kampung Rinching Ulu Muslim Cemetery.
On Tuesday (Aug 26), the Shah Alam High Court directed that the remains of Syamsul Haris be exhumed as soon as possible.

He was buried at the cemetery in Semenyih after passing away on July 28 at Hospital Kota Tinggi, a day after undergoing training at the Army Combat Training Centre (Pulada) in Ulu Tiram, Johor.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail previously said the police police would faclitate the exhumation for a second post-mortem following the court order.
