PETALING JAYA:

Supreme Council member Puad Zarkashi has scoffed at ‘s decision to appoint former Ketereh MP Annuar Musa as its election director for the coming Sabah polls.

Puad said the decision showed that the Islamic party lacked local leaders in Sabah who were capable of leading its election machinery.

He also labelled Annuar as a failure of an election director given the defeat at the Nenggiri by-election in last year, when regained the seat with a comfortable 3,352-vote majority.

“This goes to show that PAS is participating in the Sabah state election just to tick the boxes. It’s not a serious or confident attempt to win any seat.

“Annuar will be made a scapegoat if PAS candidates suffer heavy defeats and even lose their deposits,” Puad said in a Facebook post.

Yesterday, Annuar received his letter of appointment as the Sabah PAS election director from party president Abdul Hadi Awang.

Sabah PAS chief Aliakbar Gulasan, who was made an appointed assemblyman in 2020, was previously mooted as a possible chief minister candidate from the Islamic party.
