PETALING JAYA:

The Attorney-General’s Chambers has returned the preliminary investigation report by police on the death of Form 1 student Zara Qairina Mahathir for the authorities to complete their probe.

Attorney-General Dusuki Mokhtar said they had issued specific instructions to the police, which meant there were a few things that needed to be compiled, Berita Harian reported.

“I can’t go into detail, but there are a few matters that need to be completed,” he was quoted as saying, emphasising that the report returned was not the investigation paper.

On Monday, the AGC said it was reviewing the report of the preliminary investigation by police into Zara Qairina’s death after receiving it on Sunday.

It said the review will include a thorough examination of the facts of the case and legalities.

Zara Qairina was found unconscious at 4am on July 16 after she allegedly fell from the third floor of her school’s hostel in Papar.

She died at Queen Elizabeth I Hospital in Kota Kinabalu the next day.

Sabah police commissioner Jauteh Dikun had said Bukit Aman was reviewing the case and police had not ruled out the possibility that the Form 1 student had been bullied.
