PETALING JAYA: Prasarana Malaysia Bhd saw rail service disruptions drop to 31 last year, down from 71 in 2024, a 56 per cent improvement, Transport Minister Anthony Loke said.
He added that while most rail lines are performing well, the Kelana Jaya Line still falls short of expectations.
Loke said this during the presentation of Prasarana’s 2025 performance report and 2026 planning framework.
The LRT Kelana Jaya Line recorded 16 service disruptions, while the LRT Ampang Line reported four disruptions.
Within the MRT network, the Kajang Line experienced six disruptions, compared with just two on the Putrajaya Line.
The Monorail Line, meanwhile, recorded three service disruptions.
“For the LRT Kelana Jaya Line, although disruptions declined from 26 incidents in 2024 to 16 in 2025, we still consider the situation challenging, as the line has yet to meet the KPI set for the Kelana Jaya Line,” he said.
Loke said the target for 2026 is to further reduce the number of service disruptions across the network, from 31 incidents currently, with particular emphasis on lowering disruptions on the LRT Kelana Jaya Line.
Beyond service disruptions, Prasarana also recorded its highest daily ridership on record, with passenger trips peaking at 1.63 million on Dec 31, 2025.
Average daily ridership for the year rose 11 per cent to 1.31 million, compared with 1.18 million in 2024.
Prasarana said the improved performance was driven by initiatives implemented since 2021, including more systematic and proactive asset maintenance, stronger operational efficiency and better service punctuality, resulting in smoother and more reliable passenger journeys.
