Electricity supply to Sabah’s east coast was fully restored tonight, four days after an outage that affected Sandakan, Lahad Datu, Kinabatangan, Kunak, Semporna and Beluran.
In a post on Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd’s (SESB) Careline Facebook page, the firm’s CEO, Yaakob Jaafar, said electricity supply was fully restored at 10.20pm.
“My deepest gratitude goes to the heroes on the ground and behind the scenes who worked tirelessly to make this restoration possible, as well as to our consumers for their patience and support throughout this challenging period,” he said.
On Sept 13, the districts experienced power outages in the evening, with recovery expected to take place in stages.
SESB had said its technical team faced difficulty in reaching the affected power line located at Kampung Sarapong and Kampung Moyog in Penampang on the west coast of Sabah.
On Sept 14, SESB’s chief operating officer said the power line was cut when a 275kV tower was swept away by a landslide at Kampung Kolopis in Penampang.
