The headmaster of a “pondok” or community religious school in Kelantan will face six more charges of sexual assault on a child, according to police.
Kelantan police chief Yusoff Mamat said the 46-year-old suspect will be charged soon in the sessions court, Berita Harian reported.
He confirmed that this was the same man who was charged with seven counts of physical sexual assault on a male student and for possession of obscene images in Pasir Mas, as well as two counts of sexual assault on a 14-year-old boy in Kuala Terengganu.
Yusoff said the man was arrested again recently after the cops received a new report from another teenage victim in Pasir Mas.
“Six more charges will be filed against the suspect. Investigations are being held under the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which provides for up to 20 years in prison and whipping if convicted,” he added.
The state police chief said the suspect had great influence among entrepreneurs in the east coast state and a large following on social media.
