KUALA LUMPUR: Police have denied the use of Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain’s image in a fraudulent email circulating under the guise of a legal threat.
Commercial Crime Investigation Department acting director, Datuk Muhammed Hasbullah Ali, said police had detected an email titled “Polis Negara Malaysia”, which instructed recipients to respond immediately or face legal action.
The email, sent from [email protected], was designed to appear as if it had originated from Razarudin and included his photograph to mislead recipients.
“Please be informed that the contents of the email are false and constitute an attempted scam,” Hasbullah said in a statement.
He also advised recipients of the email to lodge a police report.
