Police seize RM757,000 worth of drugs, arrest three in drug raid

KAJANG: A couple were among three people arrested in connection with a drug distribution ring believed to be operating in and around the district.

During two raids conducted in Kajang and Petaling Jaya on Aug 21, police seized various drugs with an estimated total value of RM757,760.

Kajang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof said the first raid was carried out at a house in the district at 5pm.

He said police detained a couple,  a 34-year-old unemployed woman and a 32-year-old self-employed man.

“An inspection of the house led to the discovery of four packets of cannabis weighing approximately 381g, valued at around RM700,” he said.

The raid led to the arrest of a third suspect,  a 34-year-old man, at 9pm the same day while he was in a Perodua Myvi. Police found three packets of cannabis weighing 235g, worth about RM500.

According to him, further questioning of the suspects led police to a house in Petaling Jaya believed to be used as a drug storage location.

He said a follow-up operation with the Petaling Police Narcotic Crime Investigation Division resulted in the seizure of 22.2kg of cannabis, 3.35kg of ecstasy pills, 267g of methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) powder, and 34g of ketamine.

Investigations revealed that the couple were believed to be runners, while the third suspect acted as the main distributor of the drug supplies.

“Initial urine tests showed all suspects tested positive for tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Record checks confirmed they had no previous criminal history.

“All suspects have been remanded for seven days to assist investigations under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” he said.

He added that the total drugs seized were valued at RM757,760, and police also confiscated a Perodua Axia car and RM3,843 in cash.

He emphasised that the police remain committed to combating drug distribution activities and urged the public to report information related to such activities via the NCID Hotline at 012-208 7222.
