ALOR STAR: Police are investigating a viral TikTok video showing one of its own vehicles violating traffic laws.
Kota Setar police chief Assistant Commissioner Siti Nor Salawati Saad said the 13-second clip shows a Toyota Hilux pickup truck bearing registration number VDU 3542 belonging to the Kepala Batas police station.
In a statement, she said the vehicle was transporting roadblock equipment with its left rear brake light not functioning as it passed the Bunga Tanjung traffic lights here.
The incident occurred at 12.05am Saturday on the slip road from Jalan Dato’ Wan Mohammad Saman heading towards Jalan Pegawai.
The case is being investigated under Rule 92, LN 170/59, for carrying loads that do not comply with regulations, which carries a maximum compound of RM300.
Meanwhile, the offence under Rule 26(2), LN 170/59, for brake lights not meeting specified standards, carries a compound of RM100.
Siti Nor Salawati urged the public or witnesses to come forward to give statements at the Kota Setar Traffic Police Station, or contact Investigating Officer Inspector Mohd Lukmanul Hakim Mohd Fauzi at 013-9964614 or 04-7321222 to assist in the investigation.
