Police open disciplinary inquiry following security breach attempt on Sultan Nazrin

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have opened a disciplinary inquiry following an incident in which a woman attempted to breach security to approach the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah.

Perak police chief Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin said a disciplinary investigation will be opened if any negligence is found, allowing for a comprehensive review before further action is taken.

Speaking to Buletin TV3, he said police are reviewing both short- and long-term administrative measures.

“As of now, all members and officers involved remain on duty as usual.

“A meeting with the palace will be held tomorrow to discuss follow-up actions regarding the incident,” he said.

The incident occurred at about 8.20am yesterday, when a woman dashed towards Sultan Nazrin during the state-level National Day celebration, but was restrained by the palace security team.

The woman has been remanded for three days, from today until Sept 3, to assist in the investigation.

The remand order was issued by magistrate Wardah Nabilah Mohd Abd Wahab at the Ipoh police headquarters lock-up.

Initial investigations revealed that the woman has a history of drug cases and psychiatric treatment, although her urine screening test was negative.

The case is being investigated under Section 325/511 of the Penal Code for attempted grievous hurt.
