SUBANG JAYA, Sept 14 — Police have launched an investigation into a reported threat involving a lewd video allegedly targeting Subang MP Wong Chen, according to Sinar Harian.
Subang Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said a report had been lodged and investigations were underway.
“Investigations are ongoing to trace the sender of the email. The case is being probed under Section 385 of the Penal Code for extortion and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998,” he was quoted as saying.
Earlier, Pandan MP Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli also revealed that he had received a similar threatening email, which demanded US$100,000 (RM470,000) to prevent the circulation of the alleged video.
Rafizi said the screenshot attached to the email showed his face superimposed onto a man’s body in a blurry room scene, but stressed it was a fabrication created using artificial intelligence (AI).
He added that Wong Chen had also informed him of receiving the same threat, but noted that the Subang MP’s office acted firmly by immediately lodging a police report.
