Police hunt Myvi driver after viral Bangi toll plaza road rage

KUALA LUMPUR: Police are seeking a man involved in a roadside dispute following a collision at Bangi toll plaza yesterday.

Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abd Yusof said authorities received a report from the victim regarding the incident.

“A report was lodged yesterday at 7.50pm by a 31-year-old woman, an executive at a private company,” he said.

The incident, captured on a viral dashcam, showed the female driver already in the SmartTag lane being honked at by a Perodua Myvi that attempted to cut into her lane, sparking outrage among netizens. https://www.nst.com.my/news/nst-viral/2025/09/1274381/nstviral-man-turns-aggressive-towards-woman-toll-plaza-road-rage

Naazron said initial investigations indicated the incident occurred earlier the same day, at 6.10am.

“The complainant was driving to work when a blue Perodua Myvi suddenly cut in from behind and collided with the front left side of her vehicle. Both parties stopped at the roadside, leading to a dispute. The male suspect allegedly shouted at the complainant and made threatening gestures, reportedly because she had changed to the left lane without signalling,” he said.

He added that police were actively tracing the suspect for further investigation.

“The case is being investigated under Section 279 of the Penal Code for reckless driving causing harm to others, which carries a maximum penalty of six months’ imprisonment or a fine of up to RM2,000 if convicted. It is also being investigated under traffic law, Rule 6(1) LN 166/59, for overtaking and obstructing another driver, punishable by a minimum fine of RM300,” said Naazron.

Anyone with information on the case can contact the nearest police station or the investigating officer, Sergeant Vaelmurgan Amarthalingam, at 019-6111660 to assist with the investigation.
