Police crush Kedah 125-0 in Agong's Cup opener

KUALA LUMPUR: Defending champions Royal Malaysian Police proved they mean business after opening their Agong’s Cup rugby campaign with a massive win today (Sept 13).

Playing with home ground advantage in Kuala Lumpur, Police showed no mercy as they pounded Kedah 125-0 in their pool A encounter. It was arguably the most dominant display in the competition so far.

Police, champions in 2023-2024, are seeking a hat-trick of Agong’s Cup titles on the trot. They had also won the Cup in 1983, 1985 and 1991.

It was Kedah’s second defeat in the competition after going down 46-3 to in Mergong last week.

The other pool A match today saw downing a spirited Perlis side 17-13 in Petaling Jaya to maintain their 100 per cent record in the competition.

In pool B today, Johor maintained their strong form with a comfortable 65-14 win over Armed Forces in Mount Austin.

Johor, finalists last year, had hammered Pahang 122-17 in their opening match last week.

Fellow contenders Terengganu also banked maximum points with a 57-20 win over Pahang in Gambang.
