KUALA LUMPUR: The enforcement of the writ of vacant possession involving 26 individual titles covering 37 terrace houses in Kampung Sungai Baru was completed tonight.

Checks made at the operation site found that police had already removed the barriers in the area.

The surroundings at the operation site were also seen to be quiet, with no individuals gathering.

Earlier today, police, together with several enforcement agencies, carried out the operation to enforce the writ of vacant possession against 26 individual titles comprising 37 terrace houses in Kampung Sungai Baru.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said the action was taken after going through several procurement processes as stipulated, with the eviction order issued by the court.

The Kampung Sungai Baru land acquisition issue involves 67 terrace houses and 14 apartment blocks known as the Kampung Sungai Baru Flats, with the acquisition process having started since 2016.

Some residents, particularly terrace house owners, objected to the compensation rate of RM400 per sq ft set by the Kuala Lumpur Land and Mines Office.

A scuffle broke out this morning, with Dang Wangi police chief Assistant Commissioner Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman getting injured in the process.

Many had condemned the violence, including Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ibrahim.

Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail later said three people were arrested following the scuffle.
