KUALA LUMPUR: The Professional Footballers Association of Malaysia (PFAM) on Monday confirmed that Super League sides Kelantan TRW and Police still owe players unpaid salaries, including arrears from previous seasons.
PFAM said it is working closely with the Malaysian Football League’s (MFL) Financial Fair Play (FFP) Unit to verify the clubs’ financial declarations for the 2025-2026 season.
“PFAM has confirmed to FFP MFL the existence of outstanding salaries owed by both clubs which remain unresolved to this day, including arrears from previous seasons,” the association said in a statement.
This confirmation follows a requirement for all clubs to submit their Declaration of Arrears or No Arrears, as well as financial statements, on Oct 16.
PFAM said it fully supports the First Instance Body (FIB) and FFP MFL after both bodies issued warnings and enforced escalating fines of RM10,000, RM20,000 and RM40,000 on Kelantan TRW and Police for failing to provide proof of payment or settlement plans.
The association also welcomed the decision to impose a transfer ban on both clubs for the second transfer window of the 2025-2026 season.
However, the association stressed that the core issue goes beyond administration, saying it is a direct attack on player welfare.
“PFAM views salary arrears as a serious violation because it directly affects players’ welfare, financial security and career sustainability,” it said.
“Failure to honour contractual obligations not only disrupts players’ lives but also threatens the league’s reputation and the professionalism of club management.”
PFAM said the disciplinary measures taken are in line with Article 14 of the MFL FFP Regulations 2025-2026, which includes giving both clubs until Dec 31 to settle all outstanding payments before heavier sanctions are triggered under Article 14(1)(e).
The association reiterated that it will continue supporting players affected by unpaid salaries and will work with the league to ensure clubs meet their obligations.
