KOTA BARU: Perikatan Nasional (PN) is expected to hold a meeting tomorrow to discuss the appointment of a new coalition chairman following Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s decision to step down from the post last month.
Pas vice-president Datuk Mohd Amar Abdullah, however, said he would not be involved in the meeting as Pas was already represented by six senior leaders.
“I am not involved in the meeting because Pas already has six leaders participating. But l was informed the meeting will take place Jan 9,” said the Kelantan speaker.
Asked on whether Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar and Datuk Seri Sanusi Md Nor were among the candidates, he said the final decision would be made by Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang.
“The president will decide. He already has a list of names,” said the Panchor assemblyman.
Amar added that Pas had no shortage of potential candidates for the position.
“There are many potential candidates within Pas,” he said.
On Dec 30, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin confirmed his resignation as PN chairman, which took effect on New Year Day.
