KOTA BARU: Perikatan Nasional (PN) is expected to hold a meeting tomorrow to discuss the appointment of a new coalition chairman following Tan Sri Yassin’s decision to step down from the post last month.

vice-president Datuk Mohd Amar Abdullah, however, said he would not be involved in the meeting as was already represented by six senior leaders.

“I am not involved in the meeting because already has six leaders participating. But l was informed the meeting will take place Jan 9,” said the speaker.

Asked on whether Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar and Datuk Seri Md Nor were among the candidates, he said the final decision would be made by Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang.

“The president will decide. He already has a list of names,” said the Panchor assemblyman.

Amar added that Pas had no shortage of potential candidates for the position.

“There are many potential candidates within Pas,” he said.

On Dec 30, Tan Sri Yassin confirmed his resignation as PN chairman, which took effect on New Year Day.
