KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has described the newly-completed hospital block at Tawau Hospital as a significant milestone for Sabah’s healthcare system, reflecting the federal government’s commitment to providing modern and quality medical services to the people.
Speaking at the launch of the new building, Anwar said the upgraded infrastructure would not only enhance capacity but also ensure safer and more advanced medical services for communities in Sabah’s east coast.
“This development will become a new landmark for Sabah’s healthcare system, representing the government’s commitment to ensuring that the people of Sabah enjoy modern, safe and high-quality healthcare services,” he said in a Facebook post today.
He said the expansion project would strengthen Tawau Hospital’s ability to manage increasing patient numbers and improve service efficiency over time.
Anwar also emphasised the importance of close cooperation and continuous monitoring between the federal and state governments to ensure projects were completed on schedule and maintained properly.
“Continuous monitoring and close cooperation between the federal and state governments are crucial to ensure that projects like this are completed according to schedule, maintained well, and truly benefit the people,” he said.
He said the government placed strong emphasis on education and healthcare, which remain central pillars in improving the people’s wellbeing and advancing the country’s progress.
“These two sectors will continue to be strengthened, both in terms of services and infrastructure, for the benefit and wellbeing of the people as a whole,” he said.
The new block is expected to increase bed capacity and support specialised medical services for communities across Tawau and neighbouring districts.
