Prime Minister visits Program Anak Kita exhibition, highlighting RM100 million allocation to address student dropout issues and strengthen education system
KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim visited the Program Anak Kita exhibition gallery at Parliament today, demonstrating the government’s commitment to addressing student dropout issues.
The two-day exhibition showcases progress, impact data, and success stories from the first-phase rollout of the education initiative.
It serves as an engagement platform for Members of Parliament and policymakers to discuss the Whole-of-Nation approach to education access.
MADANI Monitoring Unit Director-General Mohd Khalid Mohamed Latiff described the exhibition as a policy platform building momentum toward PAK 2026.
“The initiative focuses on strengthening basic literacy and numeracy skills among pupils,” he told Bernama.
It also helps at-risk SPM candidates pass their exams and supports dropouts returning to school.
“We want to address the dropout problem and bring these children back to school,” Mohd Khalid said.
He noted the prime minister’s visit symbolised strong government commitment to this post-pandemic agenda.
“The government has allocated RM100 million under Budget 2024 to ensure we have a whole-of-nation approach,” he added.
Yayasan Hasanah managing director Siti Kamariah Ahmad Subki emphasised partnerships with civil society organisations.
She said grassroots organisations deliver rapid and impactful results through local community knowledge.
PAK interventions have shown tangible success with 90% of at-risk SPM trial students passing their exams.
Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad and several MPs also visited the exhibition.
They interacted with PAK participants from SK Ampang Campuran during their visit.
Launched in September 2024, PAK is a joint initiative by the Education and Finance Ministries.
The MADANI Monitoring Unit leads the programme in collaboration with Yayasan Hasanah and other partners.
It targets over 83,000 students in 2,500 schools using data- and empathy-based approaches.
The programme aligns with the MADANI Economy framework’s inclusivity and social justice principles. – Bernama
