: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ibrahim is scheduled to depart for Kota Kinabalu on Friday (Sept 26) to ensure several critical projects for Sabah are expedited.

He said this included the redevelopment of the Gaya Teacher Education Institute (IPG) campus, which was severely damaged by a recent landslide.

Speaking at the Finance Ministry’s monthly assembly this morning, said the extent of the damage to the campus made it difficult to repair, and the government is now considering relocating it to a new site.

“This was not part of the Finance Ministry’s original plan, but some adjustments will need to be made.

“If you ask the budget division, they’ll probably agree on the condition that we use existing allocations. So I’ll just make a few tweaks,” he said.

stressed that any budget adjustments would not be for luxury spending, but to ensure the well-being of the people remains the government’s top priority.

“Whatever national revenue we have, it’s not for extravagance. It’s for the people’s welfare and wellbeing,” he added.

Previously, Anwar had instructed the Education Ministry to submit an urgent detailed report on the damage sustained by the Gaya IPG campus due to the landslide. – Bernama
