PM Anwar pledges more aid for SMEs to drive innovation, global market reach

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 22 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ibrahim said the government remains committed to strengthening small and medium enterprises (SMEs) through a range of initiatives, including additional guarantees, financing facilities and support to enhance innovation and digitalisation.

He said these efforts are crucial to ensuring Malaysia achieves its aspiration of remaining a trusted investment hub in the region.

“It is also to ensure that local enterprises and start-ups are not left behind in the wave of global economic development.

“We want to see local SMEs become more competitive in international markets, and it must be remembered that the path forward must be anchored in technology, sustainability and inclusivity to ensure continued success,” he said in a post on social media platform X yesterday.

, who is also Finance Minister, further urged SMEs not to be complacent, stressing that digital transformation, artificial intelligence (AI) and automation are no longer luxuries but essential needs that will determine the nation’s competitiveness and progress in the years ahead. — Bernama
