PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called for enhanced efforts to strengthen historical understanding among young Malaysians to foster greater interest in the nation’s history and build patriotism.
Speaking at the launch and credential presentation ceremony of the National Historians Council, Anwar emphasised that despite Malaysia’s progression toward digitalisation and artificial intelligence, historical education remains crucial for guiding youth through contemporary national challenges.
The Prime Minister stressed the importance of developing a compelling national narrative that can overcome existing barriers to promote historical literacy among younger generations and society at large.
Anwar advocated for more innovative approaches to explain Malaysia’s history in engaging ways that would increase youth interest in understanding the nation’s formation story. – Bernama
