PETALING JAYA:

The organiser of the Pinkfish Countdown, which was marred by tragedy following the death of four party revellers last year, has cancelled this year’s edition, scheduled for Dec 31.

Pinkfish Festival said the decision was made due to “circumstances beyond our control”.

“Our top priority has always been to provide you with a safe, positive, and memorable experience, and we do not want to settle for anything less,” it said in a statement today.

The company said it is actively working towards organising better music festivals in the future, and urged fans to follow its social media channels for updates.

“For ticket holders, kindly refer to your email for refund information,” it said.

Last year, four people died and several others were hospitalised at the Pinkfish Countdown held at Sunway Lagoon.

Police confirmed traces of drugs were found in the victims’ blood samples following toxicology analysis. The authorities also believed the drugs were purchased at the venue.

The incident led to the suspension of concert permits in , with the state government announcing a review of concert guidelines.
