KUALA LUMPUR: Persib Bandung continued their impressive run in the Asian Champions League Two (ACL2) with a 2-0 victory over Selangor in a rain-soaked Group G clash at the Gelora Bandung Lautan Api Stadium on Thursday.
Nearly 20,000 fans braved the downpour to cheer on the Indonesian champions, who again showed their strength under coach Bojan Hodak.
Adam Alis opened the scoring in the 30th minute with a fine finish from Marc Klok’s clever through ball, before Andrew Jung doubled the lead from the penalty spot in the 66th minute after Federico Barba was fouled by Harith Haiqal Adam Afkar.
It was Selangor‘s third straight defeat in the tournament, following 4-2 losses to Bangkok United and Lion City Sailors.
Christophe Gamel’s side have now conceded 10 goals in three matches while scoring only four, leaving them bottom of the group without a point.
In the other Group G fixture, Lion City Sailors captain Hariss Harun was sent off in the 62nd minute for conceding a penalty, which Muhsen Al Ghassani converted to hand Bangkok United a 1-0 win at the Pathum Thani Stadium.
Persib lead the standings with seven points, followed by Bangkok United (six), Lion City Sailors (four) and Selangor (none).
Selangor will host Persib Bandung at the MBPJ Stadium on Nov 6, while Bangkok United travel to Singapore to face Lion City Sailors.
