
Perlis menteri besar Shukri Ramli and controversial Perak opposition leader Razman Zakaria failed to secure a spot in PAS‘s central committee at the party polls today.
Shukri and Razman, who is Gunung Semanggol assemblyman, were among the 30 candidates vying for a place in the 18-seat committee.
The other prominent figures who failed to make the cut were MPs Ahmad Fakhruddin Fakhrurazi (Kuala Kedah), Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi (Kuala Langat), Bakri Jamaluddin (Tangga Batu) and Misbahul Munir Masduki (Parit Buntar).
PAS assemblymen who failed to secure a spot were Kamaruzaman Mohamad (Gual Periok), Yusni Mat Piah (Penaga) and Dr Najihatussalehah Ahmad (Bota).
Shukri’s loss today comes months after he failed in his bid to become the Arau PAS chief.
In June, Shukri, who is Sanglang assemblyman, failed to unseat incumbent Solahudin Azmi, who won by 128 votes against Shukri’s 43.
PAS information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari on the other hand secured the highest votes among the 30 candidates vying for a seat in the central committee.
The Pasir Mas MP garnered 1,096 votes, Kedah menteri besar Sanusi Nor secured 1,062 votes, while Haim Hilman Abdullah, a fresh face, obtained 1,028 votes.
Arau MP, former minister Shahidan Kassim, also managed to secure a spot, coming in 14th after getting 717 votes.
