KANGAR, Oct 19 — The Royal Malaysian Customs Department (Customs) seized 32,000 e-cigarettes worth an estimated RM1,062,000 in Kampung Pulau Ketam, Kuala Perlis near here on Sept 22.

Perlis Customs director said the seizure was made during a raid by an operations team from the Kuala Perlis Marine/Enforcement Branch.

“Inspections revealed the smuggled items involving a tax value of RM223,020 and it is believed that the items were left in the bushes to be retrieved by others,” he said in a statement yesterday, adding that the case is being investigated under the Section 135(1)(d) of the Customs Act 1967.

Meanwhile, he added that his department also seized 11 kilogrammes (kg) of cannabis worth RM46,200 along the coast of Pantai Bukit Putih, Kuala Perlis on Oct 6 when an operations team found a black plastic box containing a gunny sack filled with 11 bricks of cannabis. — Bernama
