IPOH, Sept 11 (Bernama) — The Perak State Assembly today unanimously passed the Administration of the Religion of Islam (Perak) Enactment (Amendment) Bill 2025 to ensure a more efficient regulation of the governance of Islamic educational institutions in the state.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad, when tabling the bill, said the amendment was in line with the drafting of the Control of Islamic Religious School Enactment (Perak) Bill 2025, which was passed yesterday.
“The proposed amendment seeks to prevent duplication of provisions relating to Islamic religious schools in two separate laws, while ensuring greater consistency and implementation without conflict,” he said during the state assembly sitting today.
Saarani, who is also Kota Tampan assemblyman, said several amendments were made to the Administration of the Religion of Islam (Perak) Enactment 2004, particularly Section 109 and Subsection 111(2).
“These amendments are consequential in nature, removing provisions related to the authority of the state religious council to register schools and to make regulations on the administration of schools and Islamic teaching activities.
“These provisions have been improved and incorporated into the new Control of Islamic Religious School Enactment,” he said.
He added that both provisions were removed as the Control of Islamic Religious School Enactment 1996 is no longer applicable and has been repealed with the coming into force of the new bill.
Yesterday, the Assembly unanimously passed the Control of Islamic Religious School Enactment (Perak) Bill 2025, which aims to strengthen, coordinate, and streamline the administration of Islamic educational institutions in the state.
The sitting was adjourned to a date to be determined later.
