KUALA LUMPUR: Opposition lawmaker Datuk Dr Ahmad Marzuk Shaary has been ejected and suspended from the Dewan Rakyat for two days.
This comes after the Pengkalan Chepa MP did not adhere to Dewan Rakyat Deputy Speaker Alice Lau order to refrain from interjecting during proceedings here on Monday (Aug 18).
Ahmad Marzuk interjected continuously as Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar was delivering his winding up speech.
He was earlier asked by Lau to leave the house for 30 minutes, with Ahmad Marzuk, however, continuing to speak despite his microphone being turned off.
“Earlier, I said it was 30 minutes but you continued speaking without permission. Do you want two days?” she asked, with several voices heard saying yes.
“Okay, then two days it is,” she said, as the Opposition lawmaker was escorted out of the lower House.
