DAP MP Syerleena Abdul Rashid has challenged PAS to provide concrete solutions to Penang’s problems instead of making threats about trying to “shake” DAP.
The Bukit Bendera MP said DAP’s leadership in Penang should be measured by real achievements, not slogans or political rhetoric.
“Penangites are mature and intelligent. They want jobs, economic opportunities, security and a good quality of life, not endless political drama,” she said in a statement today.
She said Penang, under DAP, had consistently delivered results, including attracting billions in foreign investment in the semiconductor and technology sectors, creating thousands of skilled jobs, and supporting local small and medium-sized enterprises through digitalisation and training.
Syerleena said the state had also recorded budget surpluses, which enabled more spending on healthcare, education, housing and public transport without relying heavily on federal aid.
“If PAS truly wants to challenge DAP, then it must present concrete proposals,” she said.
“How will it manage traffic congestion better than the Penang Transport Master Plan? How will it create more jobs? How will it manage finances better than the surpluses we’ve achieved?
“Until PAS can provide real answers, threats to ‘shake’ DAP remain nothing more than empty words.”
PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan had said the party would “shake Penang and DAP” when it holds its 75th anniversary celebration in Penang next year.
