A police report has been lodged against a Facebook account using the name of a political party for allegedly defaming former Perak menteri besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu over the approval of pig farm licences in the state.
In a Facebook post, Faizal, the Perak Perikatan Nasional chairman, said his special officer had lodged the report after seeing the now-deleted post, which clearly showed his picture and referred to him specifically as the former Perak menteri besar.
“This post is deliberately malicious, defamatory and aimed at tarnishing my image and reputation.
“My special officer filed the police report calling for an immediate investigation and action against those responsible for creating and disseminating the content,” he said.
The Facebook post had quoted Faizal as allegedly saying he had approved licences for 103 pig farms in Perak during his time as menteri besar.
Faizal, who was the Perak menteri besar from 2018 to 2021, said the post had damaged not only his personal reputation, but also tarnished PN’s good name.
Previously, PAS vice-president Idris Ahmad had claimed that 30 farms were approved in the Batang Padang and Muallim districts, based on field observations.
This was denied by Perak executive councillor A Sivanesan, who said no new pig farms had been approved in Muslim-majority areas.
Agriculture and food security minister Mohamad Sabu also said the nine pig farms in Ayer Kuning were fully compliant with waste disposal regulations.
