JOHOR BARU: Police are investigating a fatal accident involving a pedestrian who was hit by a car while crossing a road near Skudai in the early hours of Tuesday (Aug 5) morning.
Johor Baru North OCPD Asst Comm Balveer Singh said the police detected a video on social media that showed the fatal crash.
“Investigations found that the incident occurred at about 4am at KM12 along Jalan Johor Baru-Air Hitam, heading towards Johor Baru.
“A car driven by a 58-year-old local man was travelling in the middle lane from Taman Ungku Tun Aminah here towards Iskandar Puteri when it struck a 44-year-old local man who was crossing the road to get to a bus stop.
“The victim did not use the pedestrian bridge provided,” he said here on Tuesday.
He added that the impact caused the pedestrian to suffer serious head injuries and he died at the scene while the driver was unharmed.
ACP Balveer said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
