KUALA LUMPUR: Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah underlined their title credentials with a commanding win over Indonesia’s Lanny Tria Mayasari-Siti Fadia Ramadhanti in the women’s doubles last 16 of the World Championships in Paris on Thursday.
The world No. 2 produced a confident display to triumph 21-12, 21-11 at the Adidas Arena, extending their head-to-head record against the Indonesians to three wins in four meetings this year.
The result saw Pearly-Thinaah reach the quarter-finals for the second successive edition of the world meet, having also made the last eight in Copenhagen in 2023.
Riding on strong momentum, the Malaysians will now aim to break new ground as they target a first-ever medal at the championships.
Standing in their way will be either Bulgaria’s Stoeva sisters, Stefanie and Gabriela, or Japan’s Yuki Fukushima-Mayu Matsumoto.
