MUAR: The Health Ministry has given its assurance that the Pasir Gudang Hospital will be fully operational by mid-next year, with the recruitment of medical personnel to begin as soon as possible.
Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said the latest update on the hospital followed his audience with the Regent of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, at Istana Pasir Pelangi in Johor Baru today.
He said the meeting covered the ministry’s preparations, particularly in terms of manpower for the hospital.
“During the meeting, His Highness inquired about manpower and equipment matters. The Health Ministry is working hard to ensure the hospital can be fully operational by mid-next year.
“We are grateful to His Highness for his concern regarding the status of the hospital.
“Several departments have already started operations, and we will continue expanding capacity — including the recruitment of medical specialists, nurses, and other essential staff,” he said.
Dr Dzulkefly was speaking during an official visit to the Sultanah Fatimah Specialist Hospital in Muar today, accompanied by Johor health director Dr Mohtar Pungut.
The RM500 million HPG will commence operations in phases, beginning with 30 per cent of core services, including: General Medicine and Nephrology; Emergency and Trauma Services (ETS); Paediatrics; Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Surgery.
HPG will be Johor Baru’s third public hospital, after the Sultanah Aminah and Sultan Ismail hospitals.
The hospital spans 20.6 ha in Bandar Seri Alam and is equipped with 304 beds and 14 specialist departments.
Facilities also include 36 units of staff quarters (Class G), 50 units of nurses’ hostels, 1,507 car parking bays, 320 motorcycle parking bays and 32 disabled parking spaces.
