IPOH, Sept 1 — PAS assemblyman Hafez Sabri has issued a statement addressing the public debate surrounding his viral Facebook post, on an alleged lapse in security at an event attended by the Sultan of Perak.
Hafez who is the state rep for Manjoi said that “irresponsible parties” had manipulated his post, which he said was not meant to raise any issues of race or ethnicity in questioning how the incident occurred.
Instead, he focused on the need to tighten security for the Sultan.
He said that his initial post was based on wrong information and that he had corrected it but screenshots of the original post had by then been spread around.
Hafez apologised for his mistake in the matter, and has reported what he says are manipulated screenshots of his Facebook post to the police.
