Pas refutes report on president Hadi stepping down

KOTA BARU: has denied claims that Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang is stepping down as the party president, dismissing a report by a local newspaper as baseless and speculative.

deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said the report was a fabrication that misrepresented internal party discussions.

“The claim that the president has signalled his intention to step down is purely media fiction.

“Such a matter has never been raised by the president as suggested in the report,” he said.

He explained that recent party meetings were focused on preparations for by-elections and the next general election, not on internal leadership changes.

“There has been no discussion whatsoever regarding party positions. remains open on such matters, but we remain calm because positions are not something to be contested over, they are a trust from Allah.

“We leave it entirely to the delegates to determine party leadership,” said the Kubang Kerian member of Parliament.

Tuan Ibrahim also suggested that certain quarters were attempting to draw false parallels between Pas and other political parties facing internal strife.

“There are those who are uncomfortable with the stability in Pas. Unlike other parties, we have managed to maintain unity.

“It would be shameful for anyone in Pas to lobby or campaign for a position for themselves,” he added.

Expressing continued support for Hadi’s leadership, Tuan Ibrahim said the president remained active and was still fulfilling his duties as usual.

“I see that the leadership of the president is still very much needed. He continues to carry out his responsibilities, and I am confident the party will maintain him as president, insyaallah,” he added.
