PAS now has over 1.3 million members across the country and this is proof of its acceptance among Malaysians, says its secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan.
Speaking at the party’s 71st muktamar here, Takiyuddin said PAS consistently took in 2,000 to 3,000 new members every month.
He also said PAS’s non-Muslim supporters wing was now the party’s official associate wing, giving it equal standing as its ulama, women’s and youth wings.
“The Registrar of Societies approved the amendment to PAS’s constitution on Aug 8. Associate members must be Malaysian and of faiths other than Islam.
“All members of the non-Muslim supporters wing, who were previously deemed ‘friends of PAS’, have automatically been made PAS associate members,” he said.
