Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has temporarily closed parts of Jalan Masjid India to vehicles after part of the road along Jalan Bunus subsided this morning.
DBKL said the incident occurred in front of the Bombay Jewellery outlet at about 8.40am.
“For safety reasons, Jalan Masjid India has been temporarily closed to vehicular traffic, starting from Lorong Masjid India 4 beside the mosque to the affected area,” it said in a statement.
It said teams from DBKL, Air Selangor, Indah Water Konsortium, and the Dang Wangi police were conducting investigations at the site.
DBKL said public safety remained its top priority, and monitoring and technical work would continue, with further updates to be provided from time to time.
On Aug 23 last year, an Indian tourist, G Vijaya Lakshmi, 48, went missing after falling into an 8m-deep sinkhole that opened up at her feet on Jalan Masjid India.
The cause of the sinkhole was recently identified as a failure in a sewer pipe structure, which was corroded by chemical reaction and affected by soil instability.
