BATU PAHAT, Sept 22 (Bernama) — Since beginning operations in February, the National Information Dissemination Centre (NADI) in Parit Yaani state constituency has become a vital hub for residents of surrounding villages, helping them access digital services and essential information, particularly in agriculture and public programmes.
Located at the Penghulu Mukim 6 Linau Complex, the centre is easing daily tasks for villagers by offering reliable internet access and support for online services.
“I live in a rural area where internet access at home can be limited. NADI has been a game changer for me,” said Irwan A. Rahman, 44, a farmer from Kampung Parit Suratman, who uses the centre regularly to stay updated on agricultural developments and to manage various online applications.
For Nur Aina Ezzati Ismadi, 20, a private sector employee, NADI serves as an important platform to bridge the digital gap between urban and rural communities.
“I often come here to complete online government applications, including when I applied for the Sejati MADANI programme. It really helps people like us in the rural areas,” she told Bernama.
Meanwhile, Noor Ashikien A.R. Azman, manager of Parit Yaani NADI, said the centre offers not just internet connectivity, but also hosts a variety of programmes aimed at all age groups.
“Our weekly activities include Mahir Masak (cooking), Mahir Foto (photography), Mahir Baiki Gajet (gadget repair), Mahir Jahit (sewing), and Mahir Pertanian (agriculture). Basic health screenings are also available for residents.
“For students, tuition classes are also provided in subjects such as Bahasa Melayu, English, History, Science, Mathematics, and General Studies. Primary school children can take part in entrepreneurship and robotics programmes, while secondary school students are exposed to IT-related skills, including website development and computer programming,” she said.
A new initiative launched at the centre is the Safe Internet Campaign, aimed at increasing digital literacy and raising awareness among rural communities about online safety and fraud prevention.
“This campaign helps ensure our residents, especially those less familiar with the internet, can navigate it safely and avoid scams,” she added.
