The High Court has granted Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain an interim order compelling blogger Wan Azri Wan Deris, better known as Papagomo, to remove several allegedly defamatory social media postings.
Lawyer S Raam Kumar said judicial commissioner Gan Techiong issued the ex-parte order which will remain valid for 21 days.
“The judge has also fixed Jan 10 for an inter-partes hearing,” he said.
At the hearing, the court will determine whether the order should be extended until the disposal of the lawsuit, which Azri or his lawyers can oppose.
Last week, Razarudin filed the suit against Azri, a former Umno Youth exco member, over statements made in videos posted on YouTube and TikTok and shared across various other social media platforms.
Razarudin claims he was described in those videos in derogatory terms and falsely linked to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
He is seeking general, special, aggravated, and exemplary damages and an injunction to prevent Azri from making or republishing such statements, either by himself or through persons associated with him.
Razarudin also wants Azri to apologise and withdraw his allegedly defamatory statements from all social media accounts as well as in the mass and online media, wherever they have been published.
