KAJANG: Ummu Haiman Bee Daulatgun, the mother of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Reserve Officers’ Training Unit (Palapes) cadet Syamsul Haris Shamsudin, said she was satisfied with the exhumation of her son’s remains, which was completed this morning.
“Alhamdulillah, the first stage has been completed and I am satisfied. I want to thank everyone who came to give their support, motivation and strength,” she told reporters at the Kampung Rinching Hulu Muslim Cemetery here.
Earlier, the exhumation process of the 22-year-old UTM cadet, who died on July 28, began at 8.45am and was completed around 9.20am.
At 9.37am, an ambulance carrying Syamsul Haris’s remains left the cemetery grounds under tight police escort.
The remains arrived at the National Institute of Forensic Medicine (IPFN) at Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) for a second post-mortem at 10.27am.
After the press conference, Ummu Haiman experienced dizziness and was ushered by relatives to a nearby canopy to rest.
Well-wishers and relatives were also seen hugging and comforting her in the canopy.
At least 30 people gathered outside the cemetery to show their support for the family in their moment of grief and sadness.
The second medical procedure will be carried out on Saturday to determine the cause of death.
