KUANTAN: The Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, has decreed that mosques and surau across the state hold a solat hajat khas for Zara Qairina Mahathir.
The Kesultanan Pahang Facebook page, in a posting, wrote that the prayer is intended to seek Allah SWT’s guidance in all matters related to the pursuit of justice for the Zara, so that the truth may prevail and be upheld.
“His Royal Highness also offered prayers for the parents and family of the deceased, that they may be granted resilience, strength, and patience in facing this difficult times,” read the posting.
Zara, a 13-year-old student at SMKA Tun Datu Mustapha in Papar, Sabah, was found unconscious on July 16, believed to have fallen from her dormitory building.
She was pronounced dead the following day at Queen Elizabeth Hospital (HQE).
On July 31, Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun had said that police are not ruling out the possibility that bullying may have played a role in the incident.
On Aug 9, Zara’s grave was exhumed to facilitate a post-mortem, which was conducted yesterday at HQE. The procedure lasted some eight hours.
Her remains were reburied at 1.15am today at the Tanjung Ubi Muslim Cemetery in Mesapol.
